A community organizer, and lifelong educator.
In her twenty years of experience teaching at the Islamic School of San Diego, she was honored to become a steady fixture in the San Diego Muslim community.
As a public speaker, she organized and participated in countless community faith, and interfaith activities and symposiums.
Ms. Alkhawaja leads a weekly halaqh (study group) at the Muslim Community Center, and is currently the Chaplain of the Muslim Students Association at the University of California-San Diego.
She co-founded and instructed a course of Life Skills Islamic Education Program at the Al-Nour Center at Escondido.
Fellow of RISE-San Diego Urban Leadership Program. She was twice awarded Teacher of the Year at the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair.
